Exercise intensity matters.
Intensity matters! This research study ( https://www.aginganddisease.org/EN/10.14336/AD.2024.0642... ) showed that high intensity interval training (HIIT) showed improvements in brain function for up to 5 years after a 6 month period of high intensity interval training. The same improvements were not seen in the low and medium intensity groups. There is more and more research all the time indicating that how we use our bodies is critically important to how our brains work and how we age.
It is important to work up to high intensity training if you aren't currently exercising, or aren't familiar with HIIT. I love working with clients who are new to exercise, and gradually getting them to a place where they can take advantage of the benefits of HIIT and appropriately heavy resistance training.
